| Review: | Personally not a fan Let me start off my saying I have a good friend who has been in a long distance relationship with a guy she met like seven months ago using this site. They are going strong, so the site can have some success. No she was not a size two, light-skin, or "model type". But, she was cautious, which made all the difference in the experience. My experience has been most of the men want to move to fast, by giving out their numbers and email addresses. I personally would prefer to chat online for a month. But, most of the men on this site like to move fast. Plus, the men will come to your page and send a flirt with no message. They rarely take the time to read your entire profile. Overall, the men just seem too eager, move to fast, and many lie about being single. I deleted my account. I would suggest women who are looking to meet men, go out in your communities and get involved. You will meet plenty of men that way. While it is no guarantee that the man will be honest, it is more likely. Chat on a messenger for at least a month before meeting any man on this site, look for patterns, trust your gut, and do a background check if you feel yourself getting serious about the person! The price of $49 for a background check is cheap, compared to a potential heartbreak. Background will tell you if they have signed birth certificates, are married, criminal record, bankruptcy record. | Review: | I am not going to renew with blackpeoplemeet.com When I first saw blackpeoplemeet.com. I thought hey, maybe this is a good site to meet a new friend that I might have in common with. So yeah I paid for the membership fee for the month. And my overall experience was disatisfied. I have tried messaging women with the up most gentleman like manner. I read all the profiles before even starting a conversation so I wont look like a jackass during the conversation. Still no response. Even sometimes I get flirts and I message them back with no response. I never comeoff thirsty what so ever. I always start with a conversation with hello? how are you and how is your day going so far? Idk I guess I am saying the wrong things. I know that I am a still a college student pursing my engneering degree but I still have a job in which I use that money to go out or to hold on to on my rainy days. Its not like I am a ugly guy nor do I lie about my profile nor myself because I would look stupid doing that. Anyways I am done with this site and I will not renew my subscription. I have been in contact with Western union a number of times who pin point down to the minute that the money was taken from the account. Blackpeople.com have don’t nothing, no investigation, not looked any further, they just email me back telling me that they did not get the money and that I sent it to the wrong place, or that western union is wrong. In nearly three months they have done no more than tell me " thank you for your email". Unfortunately for my I did not do a review of the company before hand otherwise I would have seen that this is something they do more offend than not. | Review: | Ladies, use your heads the way you would in person I've appreciated reading all the comments about BPM on here. I was a member awhile back and recently became active again and I've been surprised at how the quality of the men on the site has declined --- men in profiles with no shirt on, making demands about who can or should contact them, men who can't spell and/or use poor grammar, men who write nothing on their profiles and men in general who are not necessarily "catches" for a variety of reasons, but seem to reflect that they think they are by what they write on their profiles. Ladies, I would just say this -- if someone has photos on their profile showing them in various states of undress, if they say in their profile that they are only looking for penpals or if their profile name is something overly suggestive, then this is not someone who you should pursue for a long term relationship. Also, just use your common sense. I recently met someone on the site who seemed terrific at first...he was someone with whom I could converse, educated, seemed respectful, etc. etc., but after we met, various things he said/did began to set off tiny alarm bells. He also was very secretive about where he lived and worked. I hightailed it out of there before I could find out what the issue was, but after reading some of the other reviews on here, I'm sure the issue was that he was married or living with someone. So just be careful ladies and use your heads. And I'll just add this last thing -- I'm giving BPM one month. To be honest, some of the men I see on this site are downright scary. If I walked into a social function and saw some of these people, I would leave. I've written on my profile that I'm looking to be friends first and then will see if romance develops. I was shocked at how the number of responses I got dwindled after I wrote that. But I also will say that the quality of people who have reached out to me has gone up tremendously. He will ask you for money and wants nothing but sex. His conversations consists of past relationships he's had with various women and how they all ended in turmoil. Do not trust this man. He will first tell you he's living with his brother sleeping on a couch and his brother does not allow visitors based up a previous incident where a women busted out his corvette windows in his driveway. First guy sounded great, but found out he lied about having kids (said on his profile he had none but he had 3) and about being married (said he was divorced when he was really separated). Since it was long distance I cut my losses and moved on to guy No. 2. This guy seemed to be the total package but he actually ended up decieving me the most. And he is still probably on the site with his games, so please ladies... STAY AWAY FROM TJONES1006! The first thing he will do is ask u for your Facebook account, which is odd since he doesn't really know u. Once u become friends on FB with him, u can c that most of his friends are women he met on bpm. I honestly don't know why they are dumb enough to stay on his Facebook after knowing his true character. | Review: | Disaster - Do not Join I joined this site hoping to meet a professional black man to date and perhaps have a serious relationship with but was I disappointed. It was the worst experience ever. I agree with the reviews posted about how deceptive the men are on this site. They seem to be in it for sex. I went out with a few guys and chatted with many more. They were less than sincere and promptly moved on when I wasn't interested in having sex with them upfront. They did not seem to be interested in conversing and getting to know me at all. The quality of the matches were poor. Most of them could barely spell and some of them could not carry an intelligent conversation. The ones that appeared educated wanted casual relationships. Not the site for you if you are looking for a serious relationship. I think of these men as predators. Some of them admitted to being members forever (looking for new prey no doubt). One of my dates could not keep his hands to himself the entire time we were together on our first and only date. I should have known that he was a jerk when he started making suggestive comments to me at dinner but I was hoping that I was wrong. After all in his profile he boasted about being a gentleman. The biggest was the fact that some of the men I conversed with were solely interested in having sex. It appears to have something to do with their ego's. I guess they've slept with all the females who would allow them to in there hometown and decided to make a wider search. I have no problem if that's what they want to do. However, that's not what I was looking for. I have met some men in person and chatted with many who I can add as a friend. I like the site better than eharmony or anything like that because it is "real". Don't let anyone ever rush you into a meeting or giving your phone number until you feel comfortable to do so. Ladies there are sooo many ways you can at least check the guy out and verify if he's being truthful.There are many free sites that will tell you a persons age, All you need is the name and home state. you can check local tax rolls if he claims to own property. There are public records that show you family court cases, Civil cases ect, See if he's been sued for child support. charged with domestic violence or what ever. You can check criminal and traffic court records also. Of course all of this is only neccessary if it's someone that you may be seriously considering a relationship with. Just remember you must do your homework regardless of how you meet a person these days, And this goes for the guys also. With all of that said I feel that one dating site is as good as the next, Becuz it greatly expands the pool of people that will cross your path. I met one gentleman and traveled to Ohio, to meet him, he was nothing like the profile and suffice to say, i was not impressed. Secondly, i met a gentleman, but did not "meet" in person, after finding out he was a recovering heroin addict, and in a court ordered drug program. It was very easy to navigate, I did not experience problems with being logged off, and I met some very nice men who actually matched their profile. During a 60-day period I was contacted by over 200 men and was able to easily weed out the good from the bunch, it is to be expected to have some fools on these sites, but the site cannot control that. Reading the reviews of others here makes me think that maybe the site is filled with folks just looking sex. Let's face it, the internet makes that convenient. You can't fault the site for that, fault the folks that post there. In my case, I don't receive a whole lot of attention when I post that I'm looking for friendship or a pen pal.
